Tutorial: Purchasing a Stables NFT on Tezos Marketplaces
It needs no introduction: Stables is a virtual Fantasy Game based on real racehorses. This universe offers players new equestrian experiences, thanks in particular to NFT technology.
Precisely, to see your virtual horse treading the grass of virtual racetracks, you need to own an NFT. In short, it's your key to joining the Stables competition! Without further ado, let's see together how to purchase a Stables NFT on the secondary market. 🐎
1 - Creating a wallet or having a wallet on Tezos
A wallet is a cryptocurrency portfolio. You absolutely need a wallet to own NFTs and therefore a Stables horse.
Stables has chosen Tezos to build its ecosystem.
If you're not familiar with these terms, don't worry, we've created a detailed article to help you create your wallet.
2 - Have XTZ in Your Wallet:
Once your wallet is created, you need to fund it with XTZ, which is Tezos' cryptocurrency. In short, it serves as the medium of exchange and allows you to pay for fees when conducting transactions on the blockchain.
You have several options. You can buy XTZ on a centralized exchange platform and send it to your wallet, or you can also obtain it directly through the wallet interface by paying with your credit card. To learn how to do this, check out our guide explaining how to buy XTZ and send it to your wallet!
3 - Go to a Marketplace:
Now that you have XTZ in your wallet, you are ready to buy Tezos NFTs on the secondary market. But how does it work in practice? Well, it's very simple: you just need to visit a marketplace, which is a platform that connects buyers and sellers.
Just like there's a wide range of Tezos wallets, there are many marketplaces. You can start by using Objkt.
We've also prepared a comparison article of the best Tezos marketplaces to buy your Stables NFTs.
4 - Purchase the Stables NFT:
For the continuation of this tutorial, we've chosen to use the main Tezos marketplace, namely Objkt. First, go to the Stables collection page. As you can see, there are 6,666 NFTs within the collection, with fewer than 500 of them being offered for sale.
Click on the 'View All' button to access more features. Feel free to use the filters provided by Objkt to display the NFTs that interest you:
- By attribute (background, body, hair, etc.);
- By listing date;
- By price (from highest to lowest, vice versa);
- Or even by type of sale (direct or auction).
Once you've set your sights on one of our racehorses, all that's left is to buy it! To do so, click on the 'Buy now' button and confirm the transaction in your digital wallet. Of course, you'll need to have enough XTZ to cover the purchase cost and transaction fees.

How to Choose Your NFT?
Tips and Advice Now that you know how to buy a Stables NFT, the obvious question that arises is: how to make your choice. We have prepared some tips and tricks for you to select the perfect stallion, the one that will accompany you in the Stables equiverse!
Find a design you like
First and foremost, the NFT you're going to buy should personally appeal to you. It will be your companion throughout your Stables adventure, so choose one that you genuinely appreciate.
Above all, the Stables NFT collection is artistic! Each of the 6666 NFTs has been designed with a variety of colors, accessories, and atmospheres that make it completely unique. Undoubtedly, you will find the horse that suits you.
In fact, there are twenty different styles of coats (called "Body"), around thirty types of backgrounds, lights, and smokes to highlight your horse (respectively "Background", "Fx Luminous", and "Fx Smoke"), and about forty other accessories to stylize it. If you spot an attribute you like, don't hesitate to use the marketplace filters to display only that one.
Learn about the associated horse
When you navigate a Tezos NFT marketplace in search of your future horse, you should notice that each of them has a name. Know that it doesn't come from the creator's mind or from some random name-generating AI, quite the opposite. Indeed, all NFTs are associated with a unique horse evolving in real life! For each horse, there will be only one NFT, and that will never change.
So, don't hesitate to learn about the racehorse hidden behind the name of your NFT. If it regularly races and performs well in real life, it can earn you S-Points, the in-game virtual currency. For more in-depth information, check out our complete article explaining whether it's essential to buy an NFT associated with a well-performing horse.
Scrutinize the right attributes
For those who haven't read the article mentioned just above, spoiler: no, it's not essential. Indeed, beyond the Stables Fantasy Game, there's another alternative competition where horses compete in virtual races.
What determines their performance? These are randomly generated attributes during the creation of the NFT: Speed, Endurance, Spirit, and Mental. Additionally, there's a special type that you can find in several attributes of your horse: Elaborate. The more your horse has it, the more likely it is to be fast during races.
With all this information, you should know a little bit more about how to choose your NFT and therefore your future horse in the Stables Equiverse.
