Stable horses earn S-Points when their horse wins an allocation in a real-life Premium race. But what is a Premium race? Is it the same as a PMU race? How can you tell it from a PMH race? In this article, we explain in detail what a Premium race is and how to determine whether a race is Premium or PMH.
What is a Premium race?
A Premium race is one where you can bet on it online, from a distance, without having to be at the racecourse. Premium races used to be called "PMU races". Other races are known as "PMH" (Pari Mutuel Hippodrome) races, where bets are taken on the spot, at the ticket office.
The easiest way to identify a Premium race is to look at the PMU race calendar.
Go to https://www.pmu.fr/turf/cote-courses/calendrier-courses-hippiques/ for the full Premium race calendar. All the races listed in the Races and Meetings calendar are Premium, so you can't go wrong!
A document containing all the 2023 Premium races is also available at this address: https://www.pmu.fr/turf/static/calendrier-courses.pdf
How do I know if a Trot race is Premium?
Premium Trot races are clearly identified by a special mention in the race programs on the Trot websites, and a complete overview of all Trot races is available at https://www.letrot.com/fr/courses/calendrier-resultats. Premium races are identified by the word Premium and are highlighted in red.
How do I know if a Galop race is a Premium race?
For gallop races, visit the France Galop website at https://www.france-galop.com/fr/courses/toutes-les-courses.
Premium races can be easily identified thanks to the "Premium" column. These are the races that are taken into account when calculating S-Points.
Now you know all about Premium racing! Keep an eye on your horses' performances and check regularly whether your horse is taking part in one of these races. Who knows, you might be in for a surprise when it comes to the number of S-Points you can claim in your stable.
