The technological revolution of blockchain and NFTs is bringing a host of new opportunities for communities and fans alike. Nevertheless, not everything is perfect, and there are dangers that need to be taken particularly seriously. It's a subject close to our hearts at Stables, so here are our tips for staying safe in Web3.
Security: a priority at Stables
As you know, Stables is more than just a collection of NFTs. We're a community of gaming, sports and especially horse racing enthusiasts, united under one banner. In fact, you only have to visit our Discord server to see that!
Nevertheless, let's not be blind: the Web3 world also has its share of ill-intentioned individuals. In this domain, where responsibility for our assets - and therefore our savings - is entirely in our hands, humans are the main source of failure.
So we need to redouble our vigilance if we are to avoid being duped into foolishly losing our precious digital assets, be they crypto-currencies or non-fungible tokens! At Stables, security is a priority, which is why we've prepared a few important tips for you to apply on a daily basis.

Be vigilant on social networks
Social networks are a goldmine for educating and informing yourself on the subject of Web3. In particular, Twitter is certainly the leading social network for discovering new projects and following the news of those you like.
However, they are also an ideal place for malicious people to scam unwary investors. The strategy they apply is often the same and claims victims every day: phishing.
In concrete terms, hackers create a fake account in the image of a well-known project. They then redirect you to a website similar to the project's, with a domain name that varies only slightly. From there, they ask you to connect your digital wallet (which is relatively common), except that this time, the approval transaction you sign will give the malicious individual the right to steal all the cryptocurrencies in your wallet.
To avoid being duped, check carefully that you're on an official account, that the website URL is the same as on the project's social networks and, above all, don't fall for overly enticing offers promising you insane returns, airdrops or freebies.
The Stables Twitter account is easy to recognize: it features the golden validation dot distributed by Twitter (X). Here's also the link to our Telegram channel: please note that no member of the Stables team will send you messages first. The same rule applies on our Discord group.
π Here's a digest of all our social networks and useful links.
In a nutshell:
- Don't click on links that unknown accounts share with you.
- Don't worry if you're mentioned on teaser Twitter posts and don't reply or click on those links. This kind of account is becoming more and more common;
- Don't reply to private messages. These are probably scams where someone pretends to be a "member of the Stables team" to steal your assets.
- Beware of friend requests. If it's a stranger, there's a good chance they just want to send you a malicious link to scam you.
- Be careful with the websites to which you connect your wallet. Check that they correspond to the project's website, or that the URL is the right one.
- We live in a world where privacy is once again a fundamental right. Take advantage of it to keep your personal data and remain anonymous!

Keep your NFTs on Ledger
Given the success of NFTs on the Tezos blockchain, Ledger has decided to integrate the Objkt marketplace directly into the Ledger Live app. This means you can now view your Stable horses on your Ledger!
All you need to do is connect your Temple or Kukai account to Ledger. If you don't know how, here's a complete tutorial explaining how to connect your wallet with your Ledger and store your NFT Stables securely! In this guide, we'll explain how to use Temple Wallet, but the procedure is very similar with Kukai.
1.Β To get started, visit the Temple Wallet website. Then click on the "Download" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen, select your browser, and install the extension.
2. Once this is done, click on the "Create new wallet" button and make sure you save the mnemonic phrase, also known as the recovery phrase, correctly. This is crucial, as it will enable you to recover access to your wallet in the event of loss or theft.
3. Next, set a secure password and confirm the creation of your new wallet.
4. In the Temple Wallet interface, click on your avatar in the top right-hand corner, then select "Connect a Ledger". You'll need to choose a name for your account and click on "Add a Ledger account". Note that the "Derivation Type" and "Derivation Path" fields do not need to be modified.
5. Make sure your Ledger wallet is connected to your computer. The Temple Wallet application will ask you to provide your public key and confirm it on your Ledger device.
In the left-hand bar of your Ledger Live application, go to the "Discover" tab. Find the "Objkt Viewer" application and open it. That's it, you should see your NFT Stables appear!
